Our New Front Yard

Okay, so we finally broke down and "hired" some help to get our yard done. At the end of last year, we paid to have the two huge palm trees removed from the front yard and it took months for the stump grindings to settle back into the ground. Dave worked really hard turning what was left of our grass, he sprayed to kill it all, and did everything to prep it for new grass and then seeded. After all this work and weeks of waiting, still no grass. So we called in the troops and put sod down about 4 weeks ago.
Dave took some pictures of the palm trees being removed...we were SO glad to see those things go! Can you believe how huge they were? When we were kids, my brothers and sisters and I would play baseball out front and use them for 1st & 3rd base and we have a lot of memories of those trees, but once they reach about 50 feet tall, there is no point in having them. We had to look straight up at the sky to see the tops so really all anyone could see in the front of our house were two huge trunks.

Here are some pictures of the guys working away to lay the sod.

After a couple weeks of watering it looks GREAT!!!

(and yes, as you can see in this picture I finally got Dave to take down the Christmas lights) :)

Thank you Casey, Tyler, Cody, Brian, and Dad for all your help!

LOOKS GREAT!!!

Any way of sending those "troops" over to MY front yard? Ok, at least any idea how to get rid of magnolia weeds that are 30 feet deep in the ground?

We have our work cut out for us in our yards (front and back) too. It's all "landscaped" and fine, but there are some definate cosmetic things I want changed. We have a tree stump that needs to be removed, and an apple tree that I want removed and replaced with another tree that doesn't shed millions of apples all over my lawn.....and those dreaded magnolia weeds! I am SO not looking forward to that!

Anyway, that's exciting for you guys!
