Halloween

Halloween Fun...

We started the week off with the 2nd Annual Waldron Family BOO Bash at my dad's house where we carved pumpkins with the kids. It's always fun to get together with my family and we had a chance to see all the kids in their cute costumes.

We went to a local Pumpkin Patch with some of our friends in Caleb's little Preschool group where the kids got to play on a train and tractor and pet animals in the petting zoo and we all went through a corn maze.

In the corn maze they made a wrong turn and hit a dead end.

Halloween Night.....

Jacob wouldn't stand still he just wanted to run....

Jacob decided at one point he was done...he just sat down in one driveway

and wanted to play with the glow stick our neighbors gave him.

....and running is what he did....the whole time!

Caleb was getting frustrated that his baby brother was rushing his Trick-or-Treating experience. As soon as we got to each door, Jacob took off the opposite direction and Caleb was having a hard time keeping up. Isn't it usually the other way around?

The Pumpkin Patch

We took the boys to the Pumpkin Patch with Ryan and Rebekah and their kids this afternoon. There was a petting zoo, giant haystack to climb up, 7 or 8 bounce houses & obstacle courses, a huge Saber Tooth Tiger slide, John Deer bumper tractors for the little ones (this was sooo cute),and even a tiny monkey that would shake your hand for $1.

Jacob kept trying to climb the haystack, but didn't get very far.

Caleb,Ella and Vaughn spent most of the time in this Spider Man bounce house. It was well worth the $4 or $5 we spent to let each of them go in. There wasn't a time limit so they took advantage and had so much fun!

Caleb was brave and tried out the huge Saber Tooth Tiger slide. I wish I got a picture of him his first time down...he was pretty scared and the face he was making was hilarious, but he just followed Marley back up and down and ended up loving it.

While Caleb rode the slide Jacob wandered through the Christmas trees...the Christmas tree lot opens November 21st and you get to come and cut down your own tree.

They had wheelbarrows and these hand made wagons to pull out into the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins and just as we were heading out to pick some, the kids decided they would take advantage of the situation and hitch a ride instead of walking. The two oldest jumped in first and of course all the little ones followed their lead.

We all went for a hay ride and this is a picture of a very small portion of this pumpkin patch. Those are people in the field picking their own pumpkins. They were so far away...it seemed like there was no end to the patch.

The boys were so tired they barely finished their IN-N-OUT cheeseburgers before crashing.

This was definitely our favorite Pumpkin Patch experience, and we'll be back there again next year!

Jacob is walking!

Our little man is walking! It's crazy how fast it happens. For the longest time he has been pulling himself up and walking along the furniture, and if we tried holding his hands to walk with him, he'd kick his legs up off the ground and refuse to walk. Then just a few days ago we caught him letting go of one couch and taking two steps to the other couch, so we decided to try again. He is confident enough now that he tries walking any chance he gets and everytime he takes a few steps, he looks at us with a big smile waiting for the clapping and cheering. Caleb is his biggest supporter and is sure to point out every time Jacob is standing and trying to walk by himself. So cute!

Spaghetti...Jacob's favorite!

We had spaghetti for dinner the other night and I couldn't believe how quickly Jacob devoured it. I put it on his tray and he started grabbing it by handfuls and when there was nothing left to grab, he put the plate in his mouth I guess hoping to somehow get more. It was hilarious to watch him eat!

Jacob's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Jacob's 1st Birthday July 16th. I can't believe my baby is 1! We kept it pretty simple this time...dinner, just the 4 of us, and then the following Monday, we had the family over for a BBQ and cupcakes. Jacob has been the best baby. He is so sweet! Since he has been old enough to reach and play with his toys, he has always been content to just play! When he started crawling, he realized how much fun it is to follow Caleb around and that's just what he does all day. They play so well together I love it! And when he gets tired, he'll sneak away to Caleb's room and take advantage of having all the big boy toys all to himself. He's such a happy little guy! Thanks to all the family for helping us celebrate our sweet boy's 1st year!

Easter

Easter was very different for us this year because Dave was traveling home from Europe that day and didn't get in until 9:30 that night. The boys missed their daddy, but it was nice to be with my whole family that day. Dave had our camera so the only pictures I have are from my sisters. Thanks Em and Tammy!!!
Saturday night we went to my dad's house and the kids dyed eggs.



Sunday Brandon and Kim blessed baby Hudson so we had brunch after church at my dad's, with her side of the family then hung around for lots of Easter Egg Hunts with the kids and dinner that night.

Dave's European Adventure

A couple weeks ago Dave went on trip to Europe with only a backpack and two friends. The trip started with a 12 hour lay-over in Philadelphia, PA where they visited Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the famous "Rocky" steps. They also got to visit most of the places seen in the movie National Treasure. From there they flew to Rome, Italy where they spent a day and a half touring the Colosseum, Fountain of Trevi, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, The Vatican, St. Peter's and more. They continued on to Paris, France and for the next day and a half they visited Le Louvre, Versailles, The Basilica Sacre Coure, The Eiffel Tower, The Arch of Triumph, Notre Dame and lots more. By this time Dave had a huge blister on the bottom of each foot. Next, they took the famous Channel Tunnel to London. That same night they arrived, they went on a "Jack the Ripper" tour where they learned all of the details of the murders and where they took place. He had some crazy dreams that night! They got an early start the next morning and froze as they walked to the Churchill Museum, then St. James Park, Buckingham Palace and watched the changing of the guard there. They saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Hall, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Globe Theater (Shakespear's), St. Paul's Cathedral, Old Scottland Yard...just to name a few! :) Their last stop was the nightlife of Amsterdam where they visited the Central Shipping Hub and old downtown.
They left the next morning on a 20 hour voyage home. He had a blast! And he has thoroughtly enjoyed "bragging" about it to me, but then proceeds to tell me it was a great way for him to scope everything out for our trip together there. You better believe I am holding him to it! :) It is so good to have him home!!! Here are some pictures he wanted to share.

Our New Front Yard

Okay, so we finally broke down and "hired" some help to get our yard done. At the end of last year, we paid to have the two huge palm trees removed from the front yard and it took months for the stump grindings to settle back into the ground. Dave worked really hard turning what was left of our grass, he sprayed to kill it all, and did everything to prep it for new grass and then seeded. After all this work and weeks of waiting, still no grass. So we called in the troops and put sod down about 4 weeks ago.
Dave took some pictures of the palm trees being removed...we were SO glad to see those things go! Can you believe how huge they were? When we were kids, my brothers and sisters and I would play baseball out front and use them for 1st & 3rd base and we have a lot of memories of those trees, but once they reach about 50 feet tall, there is no point in having them. We had to look straight up at the sky to see the tops so really all anyone could see in the front of our house were two huge trunks.

After a couple weeks of watering it looks GREAT!!!
